It is the only approach to distinguish between two kinds of upright - elevated upright
and oppressed upright. These are two completely opposite strategies for posture and
body use, that apply equally to any posture or movement and not just to ones that
are straight. Much of the difficulty and confusion we experienced with posture and
body use arises from the fact that these two strategies are normally perceived as
one and the same (even in disciplines such as yoga and qi gong).
