Overview
Power Ergonomics is a user-friendly adaptation of the Japanese mind-body discipline
Ki Development (Mind and Body Unification), updated in theory and modified in practice
to suit modern western needs.
It has been tried and tested during its evolution in Sweden by health professionals,
sportsmen, musicians, singers, office workers, nurses and others working with heavy
loads, people suffering back pain and related disorders, as well as stroke and burnout
victims.
Power Ergonomics is related to methods such as the Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais
Method, Yoga and Qi Gong.
At the same time it differs considerably both in theory and application:
- Power Ergonomics distinguishes between two basic states of action or use - unified
(unified postures and unified movements) and disrupted... more
- It is the only approach to distinguish between two kinds of upright - elevated upright
and oppressed upright... more
- It is the only approach to associate three different choices of balance with the
above mentioned strategies (elevation and oppression)... more
- Its basic theory can be applied equally in any area... more
- It offers a fast and reliable hands-on approach to posture and movement evaluation
(MUBA), that leaves other posture evaluation methods standing (no pun intended!)...
more
- It offers a method for identifying and correcting the functional separation that
often arises between the arms and upper body and between the upper and lower body...
more
- It is highly effective at awakening individuals’ motivation to change the way they
use the body... more
- It puts control over ‘correctness’ directly into the hands of the user... more
- It provides insight as to why models for ‘idealised posture’ disrupt attempts to
achieve elevation... more
- It is simple and down to earth, because it works from an apithological perspective...
